Sour pickled ume - a kind of Japanese Plum
Umeboshi (Japanese sour plums) are a delicious sour sweet tangy flavour bomb that is really worth experimenting with.
You may have tried Ume-shu (Japanese Plum wine) and these are the same fruit, just pickled instead of fermented. They have a big flavour. If you’ve never had them before think big like olives, capers or kimchi. Umeboshi are a lot. And for Señor Sauce, they’re “a lot” in a really good way.
